Persian Kilim is one of the oldest Iranian handicrafts that dates back to more than five thousand years ago. Kilims are originally flat weaves that are made without using knots. Kilims have mostly been the profession of the nomads from many years ago, especially in southern regions of Iran. anbaran, a city in theardabil province, is now famous for its Kilims. High quality and innovations in patterns and colors of anbaran Kilims resulted in the registration of this city as the global city of handwoven Kilim by the World Council of Handicrafts in 2023. anbaran city produces antique kilims with traditional designs. 50,000 kilim weavers live in anbaran that most of them are women. Women start this profession from an early age and continue until the end of their lives. Additionally, the designs are mostly based on the features of the surrounding nature. For example, trees, animals such as goats, birds, and camels, are included in the designs of kilim anbaran.anbaran also is known for its pistachios, and wind towers as tourist attraction.
